Pair of brass inlaid rosewood card tables circa 1795.
Pair of rare and unusual 'D'-shaped rosewood card tables, the tops with satinwood banding and the friezes with brass geometric decoration. The saber legs are headed with brass inlay with brass stringing throughout. One piece of brass inlay is replaced.
The inlay on the frieze and legs of these tables is extremely unusual. I have never seen such inlay before and leads me to suspect that the tables were made by a foreign craftsman working in England or that the table was a special order by someone who knew the significance of the inlay.Height: 29 7/8 inches
